French savings rates projected to rise amid inflation
Savings rate trends in France are shifting due to rising inflation and changes in interbank lending rates. Projections suggest the Livret A rate could rise to 2.5% by February 1, 2027. This potential increase is driven by inflation (excluding tobacco) reaching approximately 3% and the €STR rate rising following European Central Bank policy shifts. For a maximum balance of €22,950, a move to 2.5% would result in an additional €184 in annual interest compared to the current 1.7% rate.
In the private sector, Fortuneo is offering a promotional rate of 5% gross per annum on its Livret+ for the first four months. This offer is limited to new accounts opened by September 30, 2026, and applies to deposits up to €100,000. After the promotional period, the rate reverts to a base of 1.60% gross. To qualify, holders must maintain a deposit account with Fortuneo and keep the savings account open until December 31, 2026.
