French savings reach €99,171 average despite low vitality index
French savers hold an average of €99,171 in savings, which is 16.6% higher than the European average. However, according to the Crédit Agricole European Savings Barometer, the country has the lowest savings vitality index on the continent at 49/100.
French asset allocation is characterized by extreme caution and a preference for security over performance. Approximately 71% of savers utilize regulated savings accounts and books, such as the Livret A, due to their immediate availability and state guarantees. Additionally, 52% of savers are invested in life insurance, primarily focusing on low-yield guaranteed funds rather than dynamic assets like stocks, real estate, or cryptocurrencies.
