Patrick Bruel placed under judicial control after sexual‑violence charges

French singer‑actor Patrick Bruel, 67, was formally charged in four cases of rape, attempted rape, sexual assault and harassment covering incidents between 2008 and 2019. After 48 hours in police custody, the Nanterre court on 10 June 2026 placed him under judicial supervision rather than pre‑trial detention, despite the prosecutor’s request for incarceration.

The supervision requires Bruel to surrender his passport, prohibiting any departure from France, to avoid contact with the alleged victims or their families, and to stay away from massage parlours implicated in the allegations. He must provide proof of psychological counselling and post a €500 000 bail. In addition to the four investigations, he has been granted assisted‑witness status in four other cases.

Bruel has cancelled his summer concert tour and all scheduled performances until at least September, while the investigation continues, also examining related complaints in Belgium, Switzerland and other jurisdictions.
