French SMEs Lag Online, Prompting Calls for Agencies such as Atmédia
A recent Baromètre France Num shows that about one‑third of French small and medium‑sized enterprises (SMEs) still do not have a website. The study reports that 64.6 % of SMEs have an online presence, while a separate Afnic survey puts the figure around 61 %. The gap is most pronounced among artisans, local shops and independent professionals, who often lack time, skills or budget for digital tools.
In response, the French government has launched a national France Num communication campaign, deploying roughly 5,000 “activators” across the country to raise awareness of the benefits of digitalisation and to promote existing support programmes, including advice, training and financial aid. Meanwhile, agencies such as Atmédia & Partner’s in Orléans position themselves as partners for businesses seeking a measurable, 360° communication strategy. Since 1994, Atmédia offers digital branding, advertising and analytics services tailored to the needs of SMEs, promising transparent results and customized solutions to help firms improve their online visibility and growth.
