French SMEs turn to IT outsourcing to safeguard against server failures

French small and medium‑sized enterprises (SMEs) are increasingly adopting outsourced IT management, known as infogérance, to protect critical systems. The approach transfers supervision, maintenance and security of the information system to specialised providers, offering continuous monitoring, automated backups, encryption and rapid response to ransomware attacks.

A recent analysis highlights six common types of IT incidents—power cuts, network failures, hardware breakdowns, human error, ransomware, and third‑party service outages—and stresses that redundancy alone cannot address all of them. Business‑continuity plans (PRA) are required to recover data and restore operations when redundancy fails, complementing the outsourced services that ensure high availability and cost‑controlled SLAs for French SMEs.
