French sports organizations expand philanthropic and funding initiatives

Various French organizations are implementing new models to fund sports and medical research through philanthropy and local economic engagement.

The Fonds Aliénor has announced its second sports gala, scheduled for November 18, 2026, at the Arena Futuroscope. This event aims to raise funds for research projects at the Poitiers University Hospital (CHU de Poitiers). The initiative pairs local sports clubs with researchers to support studies on topics such as antibiotic resistance, pancreatic cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, and sleep in intensive care.

In the realm of sports administration, the Fondation du Sport Français (FSF) has integrated two new entities: the Fondation Squash and the Fondation SPOR&D. The Fondation Squash focuses on increasing accessibility to the sport, particularly for youth, while Fondation SPOR&D works on making sports surface maintenance more sustainable in response to climate challenges.

Additionally, the platform Ma Petite Sponso is introducing a collaborative economy model to support amateur sports clubs. The system allows club members to support their associations through everyday purchases at local partner businesses, where a percentage of the transaction is automatically donated to the club.
