French supporters association demands justice over police violence allegations
The Association Nationale des Supporters (ANS) is calling for an independent judicial investigation into allegations of police violence following a Ligue 2 football match between Grenoble and Saint-Étienne in March.
The ANS is contesting the decision by the public prosecutor to dismiss a complaint filed by a supporter who claims he was struck in the face with a baton by a police officer. The victim reportedly suffered severe injuries, including a skull fracture, the need for multiple surgeries, and 70 stitches, resulting in 21 days of total incapacity for work (ITT).
While the ANS condemned the clashes between opposing fan groups that occurred due to a poorly managed route, the association insists that the violence involving law enforcement must be examined independently. Following the dismissal of the initial complaint, the general prosecutor's office has been seized to ensure that the circumstances surrounding the injuries are fully clarified.
