French tennis: 13 players in Top 100 but Davis Cup exit

France currently maintains a strong presence in the ATP rankings with 13 players in the Top 100, matching the United States. However, the nation has failed to qualify for the Davis Cup Final 8 in Bologna after a 3-1 defeat to Canada in the second qualifying round in Quebec.

Arthur Fils, the world number 9 and a prominent figure of the new French generation, recently overcame administrative registration issues to enter the main draw in Tokyo. After winning his qualifying matches, Fils is set to face fellow Frenchman Luca Van Assche in the first round.
