French tennis: Ugo Humbert left out of Davis Cup squad

French tennis captain Paul-Henri Mathieu has announced the squad for the upcoming Davis Cup tie against Canada, scheduled for September 18-19 in Quebec. Ugo Humbert was not selected for the singles lineup, as Mathieu followed world rankings to select Arthur Fils (ranked 28th) and Arthur Rinderknech (ranked 21st). For the doubles matches, Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Quentin Halys retain their positions, with a fifth player to be named following the US Open.

In junior tennis, 16-year-old Luca Iliescu continues his progression on the international circuit. Following a strong performance in a J100 tournament in Poland, where he reached the semifinals, Iliescu is expected to rise over 100 places in the international rankings toward the top 500.
