French thermal stations expand wellness and preventative health offerings
Thermal destinations in France are evolving to offer comprehensive wellness and preventative health programs. In the Auvergne region, the Federation Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (FTARA) is promoting the ‘Pleine Santé’ (Full Health) concept. This model integrates traditional thermal treatments with three main pillars: nutritional health, physical activity, and mental management.
Key destinations in Auvergne include Châtel-Guyon, featuring the Aïga Resort Thermal & Spa; Le Mont-Dore, located near the Sancy massif; and Vichy, which focuses on nutrition and longevity. Programs range from ‘Vitality’ approaches involving hydro massage and walking to ‘Nutrition Pleasure’ and ‘Balance & Autonomy’ workshops covering topics like sleep management and cooking.
In the Vosges region, thermal stays are becoming more accessible for short-term escapes. Locations such as Vittel, Contrexéville, Plombières-les-Bains, and Bains-les-Bains offer varied formats that can be adapted for weekend trips. Travelers can manage costs by combining single-day spa treatments with simple local accommodations, rather than committing to long-term medical cures.
