French tourism shifts toward temperate regions due to heatwaves

Climate-related weather patterns have significantly altered French tourism trends this summer. According to a study by the vacation rental platform Novasol, travelers are increasingly choosing more temperate regions to avoid heatwaves and wildfires.

Destinations prone to extreme heat saw sharp declines in bookings, including Aquitaine (-74%), Drôme-Provence (-50%), and the Côte d’Azur (-50%). Conversely, more temperate areas experienced growth, with Normandy seeing a 30% increase, Picardie up 27%, and Midi-Pyrénées up 25%.

In Normandy, the coastal town of Dieppe remains a notable destination. Visitors to the area explore its historic center, including the Saint-Jacques church, and the Quai Henri IV, which serves as a central hub for dining and tourism near the port.
