European Heritage Days feature diverse cultural events across France and Norway
The 2026 European Heritage Days feature a wide array of cultural activities across France and Norway. In France, programming includes guided tours of historical sites like the birthplace of Joan of Arc in Domrémy, the medieval town of Saint-Émilion, and various museums in the Vosges and Dordogne regions. Special themes focus on "Heritage in Danger," highlighting the preservation of monuments and archives.
To facilitate access, SNCF and Aléop are offering discounted 5-euro train tickets in the Pays de la Loire region. Additionally, the Fondation du patrimoine has launched a new "Pass Patrimoine," a subscription service providing access to over 500 cultural sites, including the Palace of Versailles and Chambord, to help fund ongoing preservation efforts.
In Norway, the event included a specialized evening in Oslo focused on protecting cultural heritage during times of conflict, featuring a roundtable discussion and an exhibition by ALIPH highlighting women working in heritage preservation.
