French towns launch initiatives to combat dog waste
French municipalities are implementing diverse strategies to combat the issue of uncollected dog waste in public spaces.
In Champigneulles, near Nancy, the town has launched a pilot program for the PooPay application. Under this system, pet owners can scan QR codes on city bins and upload photos of cleaned waste to earn points. These points can be redeemed for vouchers at partner retailers, pet shops, or veterinary clinics, or donated to associations.
Meanwhile, Saint-Laurent-du-Var has launched a visual communication campaign to promote urban cleanliness. Using a humorous and positive tone, the campaign features urban signage and digital screens with the slogan: ‘I have done my part. Now it is your turn!’. The initiative aims to encourage civic responsibility and maintain the city's attractiveness and quality of life for residents and visitors.
