French towns organize community environmental cleanup events

Various French municipalities are organizing community-led environmental cleanup initiatives to combat waste and promote nature preservation.

In Roquemaure, the association Cultur’air, in partnership with Le Trait d’Union and SMICTOM Rhône Garrigues, is hosting a cleanup operation on Saturday, September 12. Participants will gather at 9:30 a.m. under the halles de la Pousterle to clean various areas of the commune. Organizers suggest that attendees bring their own gloves and high-visibility vests, though some equipment may be available on-site.

In Challans, the city is participating in World Cleanup Day on Saturday, September 19. The event will take place at Bois des Bourbes starting at 10:00 a.m. Residents are encouraged to participate to raise awareness about the environmental impact of littering. The municipality will provide trash bags, and a weighing of the collected waste will occur at noon to measure the impact of the morning's efforts.
