French towns organize local cleanup events for World Cleanup Day

Various municipalities in France are organizing local events for World Cleanup Day to combat waste and protect ecosystems.

In Pornichet, local associations and municipal services will lead a citizen operation on September 20, 2026. The initiative focuses on cleaning coastal areas and public spaces to reduce the impact of waste on marine life and local ecosystems. The event aims to educate participants on the sources of pollution and improve waste management practices.

In Gond-Pontouvre, a collective cleanup is scheduled for September 19, 2026. Organized in collaboration with a canoe club, the event will target the banks of the Touvre and Charente rivers. The program includes an intervention by a league against cancer regarding plastic pollution and the benefits of walking, followed by a social gathering.
