French university cities implement student support and housing initiatives

French university cities are implementing various strategies to support student populations and bolster local economies. In Auch, the first edition of the Forum des Nouveaux Étudiants is being organized to assist the approximately 350 students arriving annually. The event, held at the Salle des Cordeliers, aims to connect students with essential services including housing, transport, health, and social support, while also featuring conferences on recruitment and student life.

In Évry-Courcouronnes, local authorities are focusing on housing to maintain the vitality of the city center. To prevent the decline of local commerce and services, a new private residence, Twenty Campus, has opened with 172 units ranging from studios to T2 apartments. Monthly rents for these units start at 815 euros. The initiative seeks to retain students from the University of Évry Paris-Saclay within the city center to ensure sustained economic activity.
