French villages Mont‑Saint‑Vincent and Saint‑Martin‑du‑Var host market and WWII anniversary events

The village of Mont‑Saint‑Vincent continued its bi‑weekly rural market on Friday, May 15, with about ten exhibitors offering local produce, cheeses, pastries and handmade goods. The market, organized by municipal deputy mayor Michel Auboeuf together with Pauline Magnin, runs from 17:00 to 18:30 and is scheduled to continue until the Fête des Lumières in early November, with officials considering extending its hours.

In Saint‑Martin‑du‑Var, May 8, 2026 marked the 81st anniversary of the end of World War II. A ceremony was held at the town’s war memorial, attended by numerous elected officials, school children who sang the Marseillaise, cadets of the Defence, and representatives from the local college. The folk group “Li Arendoula” performed during the accompanying fair, where the Committee of Festivities sold pan bagnat. The event was coordinated by deputy mayor Romain Goetz and the town’s festive committee.
