French wine estates emphasize organic and biodynamic viticulture

Several French wine estates are emphasizing sustainable and organic viticulture practices. In the Chinon AOC region, Domaine de la Marinière in Panzoult has operated as a family estate since 1971. Under the guidance of Renaud and Boris Desbourdes, the 19-hectare vineyard transitioned to certified organic agriculture in 2018. The estate utilizes diverse terroirs, including gravelly plains and limestone hills, to produce red, white, and rosé wines primarily from the Cabernet Franc grape.

In the Anjou region, Ivan Massonnat has taken over the Domaine Pithon Paillé. Located on the Coteaux des Treilles, the estate focuses on the Chenin Blanc grape within the Quarts-de-Chaume and Savennières appellations. The domaine practices organic farming and holds Demeter certification for biodynamic viticulture, aiming to produce authentic wines that reflect the specific characteristics of the local terroir.
