French World Cup jersey sales surge to record 172,000 units
Intersport, the official retailer of the French national football team’s apparel, announced that it sold a record 172,000 French jerseys during the just‑concluded World Cup, a 134.3% increase over the 2022 tournament in Qatar. Despite France’s exit in the semi‑finals, demand remained high, with the captain Kylian Mbappé’s name jersey leading sales, followed by Michael Olise and Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembélé.
Sales of the French kit also rose 85.5% compared with the Euro 2024 tournament, helped by strong interest in the special “Liberté” green jersey inspired by the Statue of Liberty. Adult jerseys cost about €110, with personalised versions reaching nearly €130; children’s models ranged from €85 to €105. Across the competition Intersport sold roughly 360,000 jerseys of all national teams, making France the top‑selling selection ahead of Portugal and Spain.
