French Youth Pétanque Team Advances at World Championships in Santa Susanna
The French youth pétanque squad, known as the Bleuets, began the mixed‑gender World Championships in Santa Susanna, Catalonia, on 30 July. After an opening loss to Thailand (13‑5), the team rebounded with victories over Hungary (13‑4), England (13‑1) and Switzerland (13‑1), securing a top‑seed position and qualifying for the quarter‑finals.
In the mixed precision shooting event, the duo of Dawson Herlemann and Kimberley Bousch reached the semi‑finals after defeating Monaco 29‑22 and set up a match against Belgium. In the mixed triplette, the French trio of Sacha Jacquet, Roxane Croquefer and Dawson Herlemann recorded a win over Japan (13‑0) but suffered narrow defeats to Belgium (11‑13) and Thailand (8‑13) before beating Monaco 13‑8 to stay in contention for the final eight.
The team’s performance positions them as strong medal contenders as the tournament progresses.
