Frente de Sindicatos Unidos demands $3 million minimum wage in Argentina
The Frente de Sindicatos Unidos (FreSU) has called for the minimum wage in Argentina to be increased to $3,065,161 to cover basic living necessities. According to the union coalition's index, the current minimum wage is the lowest in the country's history and represents only a fraction of what is required to meet constitutional standards for food, housing, education, health, and transport.
Union leaders, including Rodolfo Aguiar of ATE and Clara Chevalier of Conadu, criticized the administration of President Javier Milei, arguing that macroeconomic improvements do not reflect the daily reality of workers. Aguiar stated that citizens do not live off macroeconomics but off microeconomics, noting that current workers require more than eight times the existing minimum wage to live with dignity.
