Frequentis and ASTRID to modernize Belgium’s emergency communications
ASTRID, the communications provider for Belgium’s emergency and security services, has commissioned Frequentis to deliver its LifeX communication platform. This initiative is part of the nationwide ComHub modernization program designed to upgrade emergency dispatch and command centers across the country.
The project aims to improve the processing of emergency calls and the deployment of personnel, enabling police, fire, and medical services to provide faster and more coordinated assistance throughout Belgium. The LifeX platform is engineered to meet future European NG112 standards, supporting real-time text, enhanced accessibility, and evolving public communication habits.
Additionally, the system is designed to facilitate a seamless transition to ASTRID’s future Mission Critical Services (MCX) network, ensuring that Belgian emergency services are prepared for future technological requirements and challenges in public safety communication.
