Frequentis expands Latin American air traffic communications, Brazil project leads
Vienna‑based Frequentis AG, a supplier of hardware and software for safety‑critical communication systems, is growing its business in the United States and across Latin America. At the Airspace World 2026 exhibition in Lisbon the company announced, together with Brazil’s civil aviation authority DECEA, a joint effort to extend the country’s air‑traffic communication network throughout the Amazon region under the CINDACTA IV project.
Frequentis previously installed South America’s first digital remote tower at Airbase Santa Cruz in Brazil in 2019 and operates the only Latin‑American competence centre, Frequentis do Brasil, founded in 2011. Earlier milestones include a 2007 contract for the São Paulo‑Congonhas airport tower and a 2020 project for Argentina’s air‑navigation service. In February 2025 the firm secured a contract with the Colombian Air Force to modernise communications at roughly half of Colombia’s military air‑defence sites.
