Fresco y Más employee charged with organized fraud in Florida

Maybel Alemán Alonso, a 41-year-old customer service associate at a Fresco y Más supermarket in Homestead, Florida, has been arrested and charged with organized fraud.

The investigation was launched by the supermarket chain after internal suspicions led a fraud investigator to review surveillance footage. The review identified 40 irregular incidents occurring between July 15 and August 18. Alleged activities included failing to scan items, conducting fraudulent transaction voids, and consuming or taking products without payment. The report also indicates that Alonso allegedly voided transactions processed by other employees, resulting in uncollected sales.

The total estimated loss for the chain is $486.44. Alonso faces charges of organized fraud involving $20,000 or less, a third-degree felony, and petty theft. She was processed at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and released on bail.
