Freshuelva selects 878 workers from Central America for Spanish strawberry harvest
The Spanish producer association Freshuelva has completed the selection of 878 workers from Honduras and Guatemala for the 2027 red fruit harvesting campaign in Huelva. The group includes 712 workers from Honduras and 166 from Guatemala, many of whom possess prior agricultural experience.
These seasonal workers will join existing teams composed of Spanish, EU, and Moroccan laborers. The recruitment process aims to diversify the workforce and meet the labor demands of the region. The campaign is expected to run from January through mid-June.
Selected workers will receive approximately 62 euros gross per day for six and a half hour shifts. While employers provide free accommodation, workers are responsible for food and potentially basic utility costs. Total monthly earnings are estimated between 1,116 and 1,364 euros, depending on the number of days worked and weather conditions.
