Fresnedillas de la Oliva highlights NASA Apollo 11 connection

Fresnedillas de la Oliva, a municipality in Madrid, has become a notable destination for history and space enthusiasts due to its connection to the Apollo 11 mission. The town hosted a NASA Mobile Support Facility (MSFN) that maintained communications during the 1969 moon landing. A local technician was among the first to hear Neil Armstrong’s confirmation of the landing.

The town’s Lunar Museum features renovated exhibits with augmented reality, authentic spacesuits, and scale models. Additionally, the town offers the ‘Ruta de las Casas con Vida’, an urban art project where abandoned houses are decorated with murals depicting traditional daily life.
