Fresnillo security forces seize synthetic drug laboratory
Security forces in Fresnillo, Zacatecas, seized a clandestine laboratory suspected of producing synthetic drugs. The operation, conducted under ‘Operation Tornado’, involved the Mexican Army, the National Guard, and the Fuerza de Reacción Inmediata Zacatecas (FRIZ).
The facility, located in a mountainous area, covered approximately 500 square meters and featured an open-air kitchen setup for processing illicit substances. Authorities discovered various equipment at the site, including two reactors, 26 LP gas tanks, processing cylinders, heavy-duty plastic tubs, scales, electric mixers, and several artisanal metal basins and stoves.
Additionally, investigators found containers of liquids, caustic soda, and an artisanal water storage cistern. A makeshift camp was located approximately 100 meters from the processing area, believed to have been used by individuals staying at the site. The area and all seized items have been placed under the custody of competent authorities for legal processing.
