Fresno City Council approves Measure C tax, tables three‑term limit ballot
The Fresno City Council met for over 12 hours and voted 6‑1 to adopt a replacement transportation tax that will take the expiring Measure C off the ballot and fund city transit services, addressing a $54 million gap. The measure now moves to the November ballot.
The council also unanimously tabled a proposed charter amendment that would have allowed the mayor and councilmembers to serve three consecutive terms, keeping the proposal off the ballot and maintaining the current term‑limit rules. Mayor Jerry Dyer, who had signaled interest in a third term, will remain limited to two terms under existing law.
