Fresno County employee stabbed in downtown park
A Fresno County employee was stabbed during his daily work at Courthouse Park in downtown Fresno on Thursday afternoon. The incident occurred around 1:13 p.m., according to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies stationed at a nearby courthouse responded to the scene to assist the male victim. He was transported to Community Regional Medical Center, where he was reported to be awake and talking, though his specific medical condition was not immediately released.
Authorities detained a man in his 50s approximately three minutes after the attack near Van Ness Avenue and Fresno Street. Deputies used a Taser to apprehend the suspect, and the weapon used in the assault was recovered. Sheriff John Zanoni described the stabbing as “unprovoked.” Investigators are currently working to determine the motive and whether the employee was specifically targeted.
