Frico Very Good pop-up brings Friulian cuisine to London
A new limited-edition pop-up called ‘Frico Very Good’ is bringing the culinary traditions of Italy’s Friuli Venezia Giulia region to London. Opening at Mercato Metropolitano in Elephant & Castle on Friday, 4 September 2026, the event focuses on frico, a traditional dish dating back to the 15th century.
Frico is a hearty meal made from fried potato, onion, and Montasio cheese. The pop-up will offer the dish in two styles: the ‘Frico Pancake’ and ‘Frico Fritto’ wedges. Diners can customize their meals with regional toppings such as Prosciutto di San Daniele DOP and cured salami, or opt for a vegetarian version with extra Montasio DOP cheese.
To complement the food, the pop-up will serve regional sauces including Salsa di Kren, a horseradish and herb condiment, and Ajvar Friulano, a roasted aubergine and pepper sauce. The event will also feature a selection of traditional Friulian spirits and wines.
