Frida Kahlo exhibition draws thousands to Malba in Buenos Aires

The “Viva Frida” exhibition, which explores the life, work, and visual identity of Frida Kahlo, drew thousands of visitors during its opening weekend at the Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires (Malba). Organized by the Museo Frida Kahlo of Mexico and SAC – Semana de la Alta Costura Argentina, the exhibition features over 300 original items, including clothing, accessories, orthopedic devices, photographs, letters, and documents.

Curated by Circe Henestrosa, the display utilizes archival materials and works from the Eduardo and Elina Costantini collections to examine how Kahlo’s personal experiences and physical challenges informed her artistic production. The opening festivities included a special fashion show at the museum's esplanade, where designers reinterpreted Kahlo’s aesthetic through contemporary fashion, accompanied by a mapping projection on the building's facade.

The exhibition is available to the public with free admission until March 15, 2027.
