Friedrichroda motorcycle crash injures rider and shuts main road

A severe traffic collision occurred on Schmalkalder Straße in Friedrichroda, Germany. A 67‑year‑old driver of a BMW turned left into the path of a 47‑year‑old rider on a Suzuki motorcycle, resulting in a head‑on collision.

The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was air‑lifted by a rescue helicopter to a hospital. The Suzuki was left inoperable and was later towed away. Police estimate the material damage at around €7,000. The incident prompted a temporary full closure of the road while emergency services worked at the scene.
