Friedrichshafen Wing‑Foil Rescue Highlights Bodensee Weather Risks
On the evening of 17 July 2026, a 50‑year‑old man on a wing‑foil near Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance (Bodensee) was caught in sudden wind conditions and became exhausted on his board. Passersby at a nearby lake festival reported the incident, prompting the local water‑police to launch a rescue boat. The officers retrieved the man and towed him safely to shore, where he was unharmed.
The water‑police used the rescue to warn recreational water‑sport participants that weather on the Bodensee can change rapidly and should not be underestimated.
