Friends In Need Food Bank launches community drives

The Friends In Need Food Bank Society is launching two major community food drives in September to address historic levels of demand in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows. The society currently serves nearly 1,000 households weekly, representing a 74 per cent increase in demand compared to five years ago, even as donations have declined.

The upcoming initiatives include the BC Thanksgiving Food Drive, scheduled from September 14 to September 19, and the Purolator Red Bag Campaign in Pitt Meadows. Executive Director Kim Boekhorst noted that the high level of need makes community and business participation essential to replenishing food stocks for the fall.
