Frigorífico Rosario plant reactivation discussed by Colonia Intendant

Guillermo Rodríguez, the Intendant of Colonia, met with management at Frigorífico Rosario to discuss the plant's operational status and reactivation efforts. The visit follows news from the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture, and Fisheries (MGAP) that China has rehabilitated the plant, operated by Rondatel S.A., for meat exports. The previous suspension was due to a temporary cessation of production rather than sanitary or safety issues.

The company aims to increase production significantly. While currently processing between 100 and 120 animals per week, executives project reaching a slaughter rate of 500 to 600 cattle per week by the end of the year. This ramp-up is critical for local employment, as many workers had previously been relying on unemployment insurance during the period of low activity.
