FritzBox users advised to disable remote access for better security
Users of FritzBox routers can enhance their network security by disabling the remote access function. While this feature allows users to access the router interface from outside the home network, it also creates a potential entry point for cybercriminals who scan for routers with active remote access to exploit login vulnerabilities.
The Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) recommends deactivating this function if it is not strictly necessary. To further secure home networks, the BSI suggests changing default web interface passwords, keeping firmware updated, using complex Wi-Fi passwords, replacing default network names, checking firewall status, and setting up guest networks.
