The Friuli Venezia Giulia region is implementing various strategies to address critical healthcare staffing shortages. Regional Councilor Manuela Celotti has raised inquiries regarding the recruitment of medical professionals with foreign qualifications. The inquiry seeks specific data on the number of such professionals, their countries of origin, their specific roles, and the oversight mechanisms used to ensure quality of care within both public and private facilities.

To supplement international recruitment, the region is also looking toward Southern Italy to fill nursing vacancies. Discussions between the regional health directorate and the Order of Nursing Professionals (OPI) suggest potential collaborations to attract recent graduates from regions such as Campania, Sicily, and Puglia. Proposed incentives include housing assistance to encourage professionals to relocate to the Friuli area.
