Italy regional news: surveillance expansion and local governance updates

Various local administrative and community developments are reported across Italy. In Friuli Venezia Giulia, the regional government is expanding video surveillance, with over 4,000 systems currently active to support law enforcement and eliminate blind spots. Additionally, the region is offering 130,000 euros to municipalities to update town entrance signage.

In other regions, local governments are addressing social and infrastructure needs. Coriano is launching a ‘Nonno Vigile’ volunteer program to ensure student safety near schools, while Colle di Val d'Elsa is investing 350,000 euros to upgrade its sports hall for fire safety compliance. In Lucca, the Foro Boario is transitioning to a public tender model for its management to create a multi-functional social and entertainment hub.

Community tensions and disputes also persist. In Reggio Emilia, activists continue to protest a Conad supermarket construction project in the Bosco Ospizio area. In Pisa, the Libera Caccia association has called for the resignation of hunting area presidents, citing mismanagement. Meanwhile, the Foligno municipal government has defended its reorganization of nursery services against criticisms from local committees.
