Friuli Venezia Giulia allocates 2.1 million euros for biomass boiler scrapping

The Friuli Venezia Giulia region has allocated an additional 2.1 million euros to support its program for scrapping old biomass stoves and boilers. This new funding will fully cover all applications from the provinces of Gorizia and Trieste, totaling approximately 600,000 euros, and will allow for the continued processing of requests from Udine and Pordenone.

Regional Councilor for Environment, Energy, and Sustainable Development, Fabio Scoccimarro, noted that high participation rates have exceeded current availability. Despite the new allocation, approximately 4.4 million euros in contributions and 221,939 euros for administrative activities are still required to satisfy all admitted applications. The region aims to secure these remaining funds during the autumn budget adjustment or the December financial law.

The subsidy program offers up to 3,000 euros for replacing biomass boilers or heat pumps and 2,000 euros for stoves and fireplaces. Residents in thirteen specific municipalities identified with air quality issues, such as high levels of benzo[a]pyrene or PM10 dust, may be eligible for an additional 1,000 euro bonus. The initiative is designed to encourage the transition to modern, high-performance, and less polluting heating systems to improve public health and air quality.
