Friuli Venezia Giulia Democratic Party criticizes regional brain drain

Caterina Conti, the regional secretary of the Democratic Party (PD) for Friuli Venezia Giulia, has criticized the Fedriga administration for failing to prevent a ‘brain drain’ of young graduates from the region.

Citing data that shows a negative balance of 226 young graduates, Conti argued that the current regional government has not done enough to encourage the return of emigrants or to attract and retain highly skilled professionals. She warned that without immediate action, the combination of low birth rates and the exodus of talent will condemn the region.

Conti called for structural interventions rather than temporary bonuses, specifically targeting housing, family support, mobility, infrastructure, research, and labor policies. She announced that these issues will be central to the PD group's work in the Regional Council ahead of the next regional financial law.
