Friuli Venezia Giulia provinces to assume urban planning powers
The provinces of Friuli Venezia Giulia are set to assume new responsibilities regarding urban planning and territorial governance. This transition has entered its operational phase following the first meeting of the steering committee established by regional law.
During the meeting in Trieste, regional assessors Pierpaolo Roberti, Cristina Amirante, and Barbara Zilli discussed the transfer of these powers. The discussions focused on the necessary allocation of financial resources and personnel required for the provinces to exercise these new functions. This move adds urban planning to existing provincial duties, which include school building maintenance, provincial roads, municipal support, and various local authorizations.
The steering committee's proposal will be drafted into the first sector-specific regulation to be presented to the Regional Council for approval. The committee is tasked with identifying five additional competencies that will require subsequent legislation for regional council approval.
