Friuli Venezia Giulia reports fluctuating export trends

The Friuli Venezia Giulia region is experiencing divergent economic trends in its international trade. In 2025, exports to France reached 1.296 billion euros, representing a 2.2% annual increase. During a meeting in Paris with Medef Vice President Fabrice La Saché, Regional President Massimiliano Fedriga emphasized the strategic importance of the French market, particularly regarding energy and industrial competitiveness. Fedriga expressed intentions to organize bilateral meetings to further strengthen ties between the regional and French economic systems.

However, data from the first half of 2026 indicates a significant downturn in the region's overall export performance. According to Istat, exports from Friuli Venezia Giulia fell by 9.6% compared to the same period in 2025. This decline contrasts with the broader North-East Italy region, which saw a 1.9% growth. The contraction is primarily attributed to a reduction in the sale of transport equipment and a sharp decrease in sales to the United States.
