Friuli Venezia Giulia reports over 23% of families in severe economic hardship

A study by IRES FVG researcher Alessandro Russo, using INPS and ISTAT data, shows that 23.6% of families in Friuli Venezia Giulia had an ISEE below €10,000 in 2025, amounting to 47,114 households. The share is highest in the province of Trieste at 30.4% and lowest in Pordenone at 18.9%. In total, 109,185 individuals – 9.1% of the regional population – live in these low‑ISEE families.

The number of families filing a DSU rose to 199,490 in 2025, a 9.6% increase from the previous year, reflecting ongoing economic strain despite earlier pandemic‑related support measures. The national Assegno d'Inclusione, which replaces the Reddito di Cittadinanza, reached just over 6,000 households in the region (about 10,000 people), providing an average monthly benefit of €600. Single‑person households are over‑represented among the poorest, making up 43.7% of families with ISEE under €10,000.
