Friuli Venezia Giulia to host 100+ reading events for Collodi bicentenary

The Friuli Venezia Giulia region has announced a large-scale celebration for the bicentenary of Carlo Collodi's birth. On October 30, 2026, the regional Reading Day, titled ‘Un libro lungo un giorno’ (A book for a whole day), will feature a marathon of over 100 events across the territory.

Promoted by the LeggiAMO 0-18 FVG project, the initiative aims to celebrate the civil value of reading through the theme of Pinocchio. Events will span various locations, including Trieste, Grado, Lignano, Gorizia, Udine, and Pordenone, reaching from the coast to the Carnic Prealps.

A central event will take place at Miramare Castle in Trieste, featuring illustrator Nicoletta Costa, who designed the official manifesto for the day. Mario Anzil, Vice President and Councilor for Culture and Sport, emphasized that reading serves as an essential exercise of freedom and a tool for personal growth.
