FromSoftware develops new IP and secret projects alongside Elden Ring: Nightreign

FromSoftware is expanding its development pipeline following the release of Elden Ring: Nightreign and the presentation of The Duskbloods. Led by Hidetaka Miyazaki, the studio is focusing on a variety of new initiatives, including a secret project codenamed ‘Project FMC’ and a new original IP that departs from the open-world structure of Elden Ring.

The Duskbloods introduces a different gameplay paradigm for the studio, utilizing a PvPvE formula with short, intense phases. While this shift has sparked debate among fans regarding its departure from classic titles like Bloodborne, Miyazaki has noted that players do not need to win matches to fully experience the studio’s universe.

In related community developments, a modder named Doneda has released a new map for the PC version of Elden Ring: Nightreign. The mod integrates the Frozen Eleum Loyce and Frigid Outskirts areas from the Dark Souls 2 DLC, Crown of the Ivory King, into the game’s existing ‘Shifting Earth’ expedition system.
