FromSoftware develops The Duskbloods for Nintendo Switch 2

FromSoftware is developing The Duskbloods, a PvPvE title designed as an exclusive for the Nintendo Switch 2. Hidetaka Miyazaki has confirmed that the game's development was initially hindered by the hardware limitations of the original Nintendo Switch, but the transition to the Switch 2 has resolved many technical challenges. Nintendo is also reportedly assisting with player onboarding and tutorials.

Recent network tests for the title faced significant hurdles, with an initial session being cancelled due to server login issues. A second test was subsequently scheduled to verify fixes. To address the skill gap inherent in multiplayer gaming, Miyazaki stated the game will utilize a ranked matchmaking system to separate veteran players from newcomers.

Despite the focus on multiplayer, Miyazaki clarified that this is not a permanent shift in studio strategy. He emphasized that single-player experiences remain a core priority for FromSoftware and that the recent succession of multiplayer projects is a result of organizational timing rather than a fundamental change in direction. The game is expected to include essential single-player elements, such as story progression and character customization, to allow for engagement even when playing offline or during server maintenance.
