FromSoftware's The Duskbloods sees high interest in Switch 2 network test

FromSoftware’s upcoming PvPvE title, The Duskbloods, has generated significant interest following a closed network test. Despite being a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, the game attracted more player applications for its test than the multi-platform Elden Ring Nightreign, a fact that surprised studio producer Yasuhiro Kitao.

Directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, the game features a dark, gothic aesthetic and a unique 'Dusk Battle' mode. Matches consist of four phases where up to eight players compete to collect a resource called 'Virtue' by defeating enemies and bosses. Players are eliminated between phases until a final four-player free-for-all determines the winner. To support new players, the game will implement skill-based matchmaking to separate veterans from beginners and include a single-player component via the 'Night Mansion' hub for training and lore exploration.

While the network test faced some technical hurdles, including server congestion and connectivity issues, player feedback has highlighted the game's unique mobility and character designs, such as the fan-favorite character Zork. The title represents a strategic pivot for FromSoftware toward multiplayer-centric, console-exclusive experiences.
