Frontex officer injured in vehicle collision near Strumica
A driver attempting to evade a police checkpoint in the village of Bansko, near Strumica, caused a serious traffic accident on September 13. While officers from the Novo Selo Border Crossing Police Station and Frontex were conducting official duties, a 33-year-old driver in a Ford Transit loaded with wood refused to stop.
The driver maneuvered the vehicle, striking a Frontex police officer from Poland and subsequently colliding with an IMT tractor. Both the Polish officer and the Ford Transit driver sustained serious bodily injuries, which were treated at the Medical Center in Strumica.
Following an investigation by the Strumica police, it was discovered that the tractor driver was operating the vehicle without a valid driver's license. The driver of the Ford Transit has been deprived of liberty, and authorities are continuing to document the case for further legal proceedings.
