Frosinone mayor issues urgent ordinance over Legionella detection

The Mayor of Frosinone has issued an urgent public health ordinance following the detection of Legionella pneumophila in the water system of a local facility. The notification was provided by the UOS SISP Nord of the ASL di Frosinone on September 9, 2026.

As a precautionary measure, the ordinance mandates the immediate closure of specific rooms within the structure. The legal representative of the facility's owning company is required to implement all sanitary measures recommended by health authorities, including the disinfection of the water system by an authorized firm.

Following disinfection, new microbiological sampling must be conducted at the specific outlets where positive results were found. The results must be submitted to the ASL di Frosinone. Additionally, a competent professional must conduct a formal Legionella risk assessment in accordance with established guidelines.
