Frostrail enters closed beta phase

Developer FakeFish and publisher Shiro Unlimited have launched the closed beta for Frostrail during the Steam PvE Survival Crafting Fest. The cooperative survival FPS, which is among the top 100 most-wishlisted games on Steam, allows up to four players to navigate a post-apocalyptic, frozen wasteland.

Players travel via train through ruins, mines, and bunkers to scavenge for food, materials, and weapons while defending against creatures known as ‘Wiedergänger’. The game features a crafting system where players can upgrade their locomotive with research stations, medical bays, and new wagons to transform the train into a mobile fortress.

Lead Designer Ez Jämsen stated that community feedback has been central to development. The closed beta serves as a testing phase ahead of the game’s scheduled Early Access release in the fourth quarter of 2026.
